To my daughter…

Shortly after I found out I was pregnant, stumbled upon a piece by Sydney Davis called, Why I Will Teach My Daughter Not to Wait. I was so moved by her words. It inspired me to write a letter to my little wildflower. I’ve spent weeks putting these words together for her, in hopes that one day she’ll read them and know her worth, and just how loved she was even before we met her.

My daughter –

My beautiful, fearless, kind, strong, roundhouse-kick-to-the-face-of-conformity daughter.

First – I want you to know that the love I have for you has been measured out from before you were even conceived. Since the first thought of you I haven’t even began to comprehend how it is possible that God loves you more than I do, but I know that He does. I want you to always know that too, and hold that love close to you all your days. Know without a shadow of a doubt, pretty girl, that the love held for you is so immense that it sits among the stars. The very love that breathed the stars into existence so that you might one day wish upon them, is the same love that holds you carefully and tenderly, nestled in the hands of an Almighty Creator. That, paired with the love your daddy and I have for you, will be more than enough to get you through anything.

Also, I want you to know that there is nothing you could do that would make me love you less. Nothing.

Printed With Grace

Printed With Grace

I’ve mentioned my little business venture in previous posts. Printed With Grace is my little art baby ❤ I have so much fun making these prints!

This shop was born from my passion to create and my love for sharing that passion with others. I hope these prints uplift you and leave you smiling (:

I was blessed to grow up in a home where art was alive and thriving. I was always encouraged to create, explore and grow the thing that most set my soul on fire – art. This shop is an extension of that fire; that passion to create something new everyday. Thank you for letting me share this passion with you!

I do custom orders as well! Just contact me on my Facebook page or at printedwithgrace@gmail.com to find out more!

The Curve and the Calling

The Curve & The Calling

The Curve

The bumpy curve in the road, the lumpy curve of my hips, the curve of my smile, the sharp curve of my winged eyeliner. The Curve.

For me, the curve was something I had to learn to accept. And then to love.

I didn’t love the sharp curves and bumps in the road when my family was going through some really dark times a few years ago. I hated it. I hated every middle-of-the-night call I got from them telling me that we’d set off on yet another unexpected curve. I hated the heartache and the pain and the stress of it all.

But I can now see that, while those curves hurt and made the path much longer, they’ve really shaped our relationships with one another. Through faith and constant prayer, those curves were set straight and now, while we definitely don’t have it all together, my family is at a much better place than we were before. Because with every unexpected, hurtful, heartbreaking curve we took together, it showed us, or at least me, what it was like to have a heart of grace and forgiveness. It taught me what it was like to rely on the only One that matters. It humbled me by showing me what it felt like to be at the very bottom, looking up, grasping for any sign of hope.

Welcome!

Another day, another adventure.

Thank you for visiting The Curve and the Calling. This lifestyle blog will give you a glimpse into the beautiful mess that is my life. There will be laughs, there may be a few tears, but my hope is that you will always find something here that will spark your creativity, or at the very least, inspire a smile.

I live on the curve and I’m constantly finding and pursuing my calling. Through grace, creativity, and Christ I’ve found my happy place in my life, and I believe it is worth sharing with others. That’s how The Curve and the Calling was born.

In the past, I’ll admit, I’ve been a bit of a serial blogger…

Through college I created and briefly maintained a total of four blogs. Each with very different themes and content; A testament to how desperately I was trying to find my “way” during those four years of discovery.

But I’ve found it – the “way”. Or at least, I’m a lot closer to finding it than I was back then. I can’t wait to share with you the things that have brought me so much fulfillment, joy, and contentment, as well as all the bumps and messes along the way.
