To my daughter…

Shortly after I found out I was pregnant, stumbled upon a piece by Sydney Davis called, Why I Will Teach My Daughter Not to Wait. I was so moved by her words. It inspired me to write a letter to my little wildflower. I’ve spent weeks putting these words together for her, in hopes that one day she’ll read them and know her worth, and just how loved she was even before we met her.

My daughter –

My beautiful, fearless, kind, strong, roundhouse-kick-to-the-face-of-conformity daughter.

First – I want you to know that the love I have for you has been measured out from before you were even conceived. Since the first thought of you I haven’t even began to comprehend how it is possible that God loves you more than I do, but I know that He does. I want you to always know that too, and hold that love close to you all your days. Know without a shadow of a doubt, pretty girl, that the love held for you is so immense that it sits among the stars. The very love that breathed the stars into existence so that you might one day wish upon them, is the same love that holds you carefully and tenderly, nestled in the hands of an Almighty Creator. That, paired with the love your daddy and I have for you, will be more than enough to get you through anything.

Also, I want you to know that there is nothing you could do that would make me love you less. Nothing.

Pinterest: Helping or Hindering Creativity?

Being almost 5 1/2 months pregnant (get used to me shamelessly plugging my pregnancy into every post), the nursery planning and decorating is in full swing.

As I was driving home from work the other day, I started yet another to-do list in my head of things I need to get for baby girl’s new space. While pondering curtain colors and crib bedding patterns, I almost instinctively thought well I’ll just look it up on Pinterest when I get home.

I realized in that moment, that as soon as that little red and white “P” icon popped into my head, my creative thinking stopped. I’ve been thinking about this incident ever since.

Does Pinterest help, or hinder my creativity?

Everyday

Welcome!

Another day, another adventure.

Thank you for visiting The Curve and the Calling. This lifestyle blog will give you a glimpse into the beautiful mess that is my life. There will be laughs, there may be a few tears, but my hope is that you will always find something here that will spark your creativity, or at the very least, inspire a smile.

I live on the curve and I’m constantly finding and pursuing my calling. Through grace, creativity, and Christ I’ve found my happy place in my life, and I believe it is worth sharing with others. That’s how The Curve and the Calling was born.

In the past, I’ll admit, I’ve been a bit of a serial blogger…

Through college I created and briefly maintained a total of four blogs. Each with very different themes and content; A testament to how desperately I was trying to find my “way” during those four years of discovery.

But I’ve found it – the “way”. Or at least, I’m a lot closer to finding it than I was back then. I can’t wait to share with you the things that have brought me so much fulfillment, joy, and contentment, as well as all the bumps and messes along the way.
